Bay Tree House is 5 minutes walk from York city centre and 10 minutes walk from the train station. To find us please use the map or call us and we will talk you through directions.

Please note that the entry to Victor Street from Nunnery Lane when travelling by car is only open to Bishophill residents with a tag. Guests should enter Bishophill from Bishopgate.

Travelling from the A1 and the South/West 

Leave the A1 at the A64 and follow the signs for York for 12 miles. Take the second exit for York City Centre, signposted A1036, and follow signs for the City Centre for approx. 2 miles. At the traffic lights immediately before Micklegate Bar, turn right into Nunnery Lane. Continue past the entrance to Victor Street on your left and join the one way system keeping in the left hand lane towards Skeldergate Bridge. After the pedestrian crossing, take the next left into Skeldergate and turn immediately left into Cromwell Road. Victor Street is on the left after the Golden Ball public house. Bay Tree House is on the right at the opposite end of the road.

Travelling from the A1 and the North

Leave the A1 at the A59 and follow the signs for York. At the A1237 ( York bypass), continue on the A59 passing a Shell garage on your right. Follow this road for approx. 2 miles eventually crossing over an iron railway bridge. At the next set of traffic lights, turn left into The Mount . At the traffic lights immediately before Micklegate Bar, turn right into Nunnery Lane. Continue past the entrance to Victor Street on your left and join the one way system keeping in the left hand lane towards Skeldergate Bridge. After the pedestrian crossing, take the next left into Skeldergate and turn immediately left into Cromwell Road. Victor Street is on the left after the Golden Ball public house. Bay Tree House is on the right at the opposite end of the road.

Travelling from North on the A19

At the A1237 ( York bypass), turn right. Continue on the bypass and at the second roundabout, turn left onto the A59 passing a Shell garage on your right. Follow this road for approx. 2 miles eventually crossing over an iron railway bridge. At the next set of traffic lights, turn left into The Mount . At the traffic lights immediately before Micklegate Bar, turn right into Nunnery Lane. Continue past the entrance to Victor Street on your left and join the one way system keeping in the left hand lane towards Skeldergate Bridge. Travelling from the A1079 ( Hull)

Follow signs for York City Centre passing a Jet garage on your left. At the second set of traffic lights after the Jet garage, turn left (you will see Walmgate Bar and the city walls in front of you). Follow the ring road through the next traffic lights, passing the Barbican Centre on your left. Continue on the ring road through a one-way system, following the road round to the left and then back to the right. Continue on the ring road passing Novotel on your left and Wetherspoons on your right. Keep in the left hand lane and follow the road over Skeldergate Bridge. After 100 metres the road splits, keep in the right hand lane and turn right towards the station onto Nunnery Lane. Stay in the right hand lane and follow the one way system back towards Skeldergate Bridge. After the pedestrian crossing, take the next left into Skeldergate and turn immediately left into Cromwell Road. Victor Street is on the left after the Golden Ball public house. Bay Tree House is on the right at the opposite end of the road.

Walking from York train station

On leaving the train station, turn right and walk up Station Rise towards a set of traffic lights. Cross over the road into  Nunnery Lane (Punch Bowl pub on the corner). Follow this road and Victor Street is on the left immediately after the pedestrian crossing. Bay Tree House is on the left.
